This STEP BY STEP method will guide you through a fully functional Sea Clear II PC Navigation System installation with registered BSB 3.0 Chesapeake Bay Charts.

Verify you have Sea Clear Installed
     a)  START>PROGRAMS>SEA CLEAR II
     b)  Verify that all the components have been installed >
- Sea Clear II
       - MAP CAL II
               - Sea Clear II Manual

Download entire Chesapeake Bay Charts
      These charts were packaged from MAPTECH freedownloads
              before they went to BSB 4.0 Encrypted Charts

Extract the Chart Files from the zip file  (Step 3)
and save them in a directory of your choice
     a)  Sea Clear II is expecting the files to be stored in:
    C:\Program Files\SeaClear\CHARTS
     b)  If you choose some other directory as I did, you will
          only need to specify it's location in MAPCAL once

SKIP THIS STEP IF YOU EXTRACTED THE CHART
FILES TO:  C:\Program Files\SeaClear\CHARTS

Open MAPCAL II   Start>Programs>SeaClear II>MAPCAL II
     a)  Set Chart Directory to Directory you chose in Step 4

Load your charts for use in SEA CLEAR II using MAPCAL II
     a)  Open MAPCAL II   Start>Programs>Sea CLEAR II>MAPCAL II
  
     b)  Go to Tools>Autoload List>Scan for New Charts
      

You will receive a report of the number of new charts found

You're DONE!!   

  Open up Sea Clear II - should be on your Desktop

Getting Started

  a.  Set up the chart you want to open each time
   1)  In Sea Clear go to   FILE>CHART>LIST ALL
   2)  Double Click on your preferred chart
   3)  Place your cursor on you're preferred origination point
    4)  Right Click at that point  GO To  TOOLS>SET DR POSITION

Miscellaneous Notes:

Preferences:  TOOLS>PROPERTIES
Here you can set up colors, color of your route. width
of the Route Line, etc.

Route Editor - To create Routes   TOOLS>ROUTE EDITOR
You can double click on the chart to create waypoints for this route only!
These waypoints are not available for other routes.

Create waypoints permanently available on a chart:
USE POSITIONS - Right click at point on chart you want to create
       a reusable waypoint, or position.  Click POSITIONS>ADD
After doing so, you MUST click FILE>POSITIONS>SAVE
(The first time you will be asked to create a filename: i.e. Choptank River)

You can also save in another file using "Save As"

Charts will pan automatically when in use.  To manually open
an adjacent chart, double click on the edge of the current chart
